Castlestrange Decorated Stone

This small but richly decorated stone survives from the end of the B.C. period. It is egg shaped, with a swirling design engraved into its granite surface. The style of the design is known as Celtic La Tene, and it is one of the finest examples of this type of artifact in Europe. The stone is located at the town of Boyle at the Castlestrange estate.
