Coracloona Megalithic Tomb

Megalithic-Tomb.jpg

This ancient burial site located at Coracloona in County Leitrim is also sometimes referred to as Prince Connell’s Grave. It is considered unusual for the area due to a ‘kennel hole’ in the entrance stone, intended to facilitate later burials. This type of construction is uncommon in the area, and more likely to be seen in ancient burial sites in the south of France.

The tomb was excavated many years ago, but no published results of the effort exist.
