Straffan, a picturesque town located along the River Liffey, contains some appealing experiences for nature lovers, history buffs and golfers. Its name in Gaelic is Struthan, meaning “the stream”. A major attraction is the Kildare Hotel and Country Club, known as the “K Club, featuring the golf course designed by Arnold Palmer that hosts several prestigious events every year, including the 2006 Ryder Cup Golf Tournament.
